G2 crumble against karrigan-less FaZe on stage

After being up 12-9 on the decider, G2 completely collapsed when inches away from a semi-final berth.

After being up 12-9 on the decider, G2 completely collapsed when inches away from a semi-final berth.

After winning a half-buy and getting to map point, G2 were in a 5v2 situation with FaZe on the ropes. FaZe’s star, frozen, came through with a 4k to keep FaZe in it.

In overtime, with Twistzz IGLing in place of karrigan, FaZe somehow overcame G2, who were completely flat in the last few rounds of the match.

G2 lost to a stand-in after being up 12-9

FaZe Clan and G2 faced each other in the quarter-finals of the BLAST Rivals Fort Worth. G2 were the clear favorites, bagging a clean win against Astralis and almost beating Team Vitality, the best team in the world, just yesterday.

FaZe have just been through their worst season in years, losing their talismanic leader, karrigan, to Saudi-funded Team Falcons.

After losing the first map, G2 bounced back with a clean win in the second, and they were up 12-9 on the decider, Mirage. But it ended up being just that for them, as it inexplicably slipped away.

HeavyGod gifted G2 a round with a tec-9, but at 12-10, G2 gave up a horrendous 2v5 that brought FaZe back. From there, FaZe came online on the CT-side, with even the young jcobbb fragging out.

G2’s coach, sAw, did not mince words after their loss.

We just dropped the ball, basically. There were discipline problems in this series.
