Besides a strong win on Nuke in overtime, Astralis had no answer for FUT's fearless firepower.

Besides a strong win on Nuke in overtime, Astralis had no answer for FUT’s fearless firepower.

“On Nuke we gave them a Christmas gift,” said coolio, FUT’s coach after the match. Besides that map, FUT demolished Astralis 36-13 in rounds across Ancient, Mirage and Nuke.

On Nuke we gave them a Christmas gift.

Throughout this tournament, FUT only dropped two maps, including an overtime loss against Astralis. They averaged a 1.18 HLTV rating across the tournament, ten decimal points above the next highest.

FUT win their first tournament as a team, less than a year after being part of NAVI Junior.

3 FUT players = 80% of Astralis

Prior to the final, dziugss and cmtry were the MVP candidates on FUT. They performed in this series, with dem0n joining their ranks on the final map. Between the three of them, they had 202 kills – about 80% of all of Astralis’s kills.

Despite being the favorites going into this series, Astralis was simply nowhere to be found against FUT today. They were repeatedly dumbfounded as FUT’s stars won every key duel, no matter how unlikely.

Barring Staehr’s 30-bomb on Nuke, Astralis’s stars were nowhere to be found. Jabbi, who was an MVP candidate himself, dropped off massively. Phzy and ryu were flat this tournament, marking a drop from their positive start on Astralis.

There was no exit interview provided by Astralis, with no insight on their perspective on the final.
