For many years, Anders “Anders” Blume was a stable figure at prominent Counter-Strike events, with the Danish caster and his iconic voice guiding the spectators through one big match after another.
But now, his appearances have become increasingly rare.
By the looks of it, Anders is set to miss at least four consecutive top-tier events: the Shanghai Major, BLAST Bounty, IEM Katowice, and this week’s PGL Cluj-Napoca.
“We’ll try next time”
In a lengthy comment on Reddit, the 39-year-old Dane opened up about the harsh reality of no longer being in high demand for top-tier events.
Here he described feeling a “very cold vibe” from people in the industry.
– Basically what happened to me isn’t actually that clear to me at the moment if I am being honest. Around November last year when I was talking to a lot of different people in the industry about 2025 and planning things, I just generally got this very cold vibe. And fairly soon afterwards, all events I tried to offer my casting – like I have been doing for the past 12 years – [they] just kind of said: “Sorry, already booked, we’ll try next time”. I won’t lie this has been one of the most stressful times in my life, Blume wrote.

Still motivated
Despite fewer casting opportunities, Anders remains determined, stating that his dream is still to commentate Counter-Strike.
– My whole life for the last 12 years has been casting Counter-Strike, it’s what I love. It’s what I will always love and my dream is still to keep doing that.
– I’ve spent so much more time this year watching and analyzing CS games than I have in the previous 4 years around this time, and that just sucks. I never wanted to become a commentator who just knows the top 10 teams and some results from big tournaments. I used to be a lot more IN the game, and I think it took this moment to kind of remind me.
