First qualification and elimination matches headline round 3 at IEM Cologne Major

The third round of Stage 1 at the IEM Cologne Major 2026 has arrived, bringing the initial wave of qualification and elimination matches. Wednesday’s schedule concludes with four best-of-three series, determining which teams secure their advancement and which face an early tournament exit.

Top contenders collide

The marquee matchup of the day is the best-of-three series between GamerLegion and BetBoom. These two rosters have performed as the best teams in Stage 1 thus far. Their meeting guarantees one squad a direct ticket to the next phase of the Major, offering a strict test of form for both sides.

The MIBR vs Team Liquid match in the 1-1 bracket also looks promising. MIBR has had a shaky start to the Major, so this would be a great chance for Team Liquid to go 2-1 up in Stage 1.

Survival on the line for HEROIC

In the elimination bracket, HEROIC finds themselves in a strictly do-or-die scenario against Gaimin Gladiators. HEROIC enters the series as substantial favorites to survive. Gaimin Gladiators have struggled to find their footing and look like the weakest team in the stage, making this a highly favorable draw for a HEROIC roster looking to avoid a disastrous early exit.
