Eternal Fire upset Team Liquid to clinch the last playoff spot at ESL Pro League

While G2, Complexity, and Virtus.pro went through Group D with flying colors, there was much more drama surrounding the last qualification spot from the group.

Here Cloud9, Team Liquid, and Eternal Fire looked like the most likely contenders in that order. But early on Eternal Fire kicked out Cloud9 with a 16-6, 16-14 win against the star-studded C9 roster. The Turkish squad followed up the day after by knocking out Team Liquid with an equally strong performance winning 16-12, 16-6. The former academy player Ali ‘Wicadia’ Haydar Yalçın delivered an impressive performance in the 4th place decider against Liquid to secure the advancement in the group.
