“End of an era” – CS community pays farewell to IEM Katowice

After more than a decade in Katowice, one of CS’s most iconic events will relocate to Kraków next year.

Yesterday, ESL announced a major shift in its tournament calendar, saying goodbye to one of Counter-Strike’s most iconic events: IEM Katowice.

Starting next year, the prestigious tournament will move roughly 80 kilometres east to the Polish city of Kraków, where it will be held at the Tauron Arena under the new name IEM Kraków.

The initial response from the Counter-Strike community highlights just how much IEM Katowice has meant to the scene, and why it will always be remembered as one of the game’s most legendary stages.
