FaZe Clan’s run at the Austin Major has come to an end. In a stunning 2-0 Quarter-Final upset, The MongolZ eliminated the international powerhouse in front of a packed Moody Center. While many headlines will focus on s1mple’s unusually low numbers, his teammate Jonathan “EliGE” Jablonowski offered a more measured view on the Ukrainian star’s performance.

“He did everything he needed to,” EliGE told us post-match, defending s1mple’s impact despite him finishing as the lowest-rated player on the server. “Of course he wasn’t getting the flashy kills, but we had a great half on CT side. On T side, we went for a connector rush and it just broke down because they had a water push coming in. It’s just unfortunate.”
Breakdown on Anubis
EliGE, who joined FaZe in a high-profile move earlier this year, spoke candidly about the loss and the challenges FaZe faced on Anubis, the second and final map of the series. While the North Americans managed a strong 7-5 defensive half on what is widely considered the most T-sided map in the pool, their attacks faltered in key moments.
“When we went B, we had success,” he explained. “It’s more just when we went A, things broke down quickly.”
A Crowd-Fueled Highlight
One of the loudest moments of the tournament came from EliGE himself. In a heart-pounding 1v2 clutch on Anubis, EliGE brought the crowd to its feet with a clinical display of composure and skill. It was a high point for a local hero playing on home soil.
“That clutch felt awesome,” EliGE smiled. “The crowd was going crazy. I wish I could’ve had more of that.
Uncertain Future
With FaZe’s Major run cut short, questions naturally turn to the team’s future, especially regarding their AWPing situation. But for now, even EliGE remains in the dark.
“I’ve got no idea what’s going on,” he admitted. “We’ll be starting the year off with Cologne, so we’ll need to sort things out quickly. But yeah… I’m just waiting to see what happens.”
FaZe now heads into the player break with more questions than answers. One thing is certain: EliGE’s spark, especially in front of a home crowd, still burns bright.
