Crazy scenes in Copenhagen as NiKo lead G2 to victory in Quarter-Final

Could this finally be NiKo’s moment? Despite consistently being recognized as one of the top players in the world over the past decade, Nikola “NiKo” Kovač has yet to secure a Major victory. However, following his exceptional performance tonight at the Royal Arena in Copenhagen, that may soon change.

In the last Quarter-Final match of the PGL Copenhagen Major, G2 and MOUZ clashed, with G2 surprisingly entering as the underdogs after a lackluster performance in the tournament’s Elimination Stage.

However, on Inferno, G2 swiftly overcame MOUZ’s defense, quickly establishing a commanding 7-1 lead. In-game leader Rasmus “HooXi” Nielsen took charge of the banana position, while Nikola “NiKo” Kovač asserted his dominance in the game. Once again, we witnessed the experienced G2 team in the playoffs seizing control of the situation and securing a firm grip on the match, ultimately winning 13-9 to claim their own map pick.

Moving on to Vertigo, it was anticipated that G2 would face a significant challenge on one of MOUZ’s preferred maps. Yet, G2 began strongly, building a substantial lead before MOUZ staged a comeback. However, an unexpected turn of events occurred at halftime.

G2 – MOUZ game interrupted by stage invaders!

Suddenly, the stage was invaded by protestors! While security swiftly intervened to remove the intruders, they couldn’t prevent the Copenhagen Trophy from being thrown to the ground and reportedly damaged by a member of the audience.

Despite the disruption, the G2 team remained unfazed, continuing their momentum and ultimately triumphing 13-6 on the map.

G2 is now set to face NAVI in tomorrow’s second semi-final of the PGL Copenhagen Major.

Result:

G2 – MOUZ 2-0 (13-9, 13-6)
