The Ukrainian football star, who is currently suspended from professional football, has now been sidelined from the server after a series of controversial comments during a CS2 match.
While Mykhailo Mudryk is currently fighting a doping charge on the football pitch that could see him banned for up to four years, the Chelsea winger has been spending his newfound free time grinding Counter-Strike 2. However, his competitive drive recently crossed the line, resulting in a 28-day suspension from the world’s leading competitive platform, FACEIT.
You can see Mudryk’s FACEIT profile here (he re-named it to 123456678 after the ban).
A High-Stakes Clash Goes Wrong
According to reports from the Polish media outlet Meczyki, the incident occurred during a match where Mudryk was matched against Polish opponents. The tension reportedly escalated when the Polish players began taunting the 70-million-euro footballer about his current doping suspension, telling him to “get back to the pitch” or “take more doping.”
Mudryk did not take the bait lightly. Instead of muting the opposition, the Ukrainian international responded with a series of messages that FACEIT has deemed a severe violation of their code of conduct regarding language and hate speech.
Controversial Historical References
The ban stems from specific comments made in the match chat. Mudryk reportedly wrote phrases such as “volyn next map,” “lucky volyn,” and “Next round, 1939.”
For those unfamiliar with the historical context, these are direct references to the Volhynia Massacre during World War II, a tragic period where the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA) killed up to 100,000 Polish civilians. Using such sensitive historical atrocities as “trash talk” in a gaming environment is a strictly punishable offense on the FACEIT platform.

A Dedicated Grinder
Despite his struggles on the football field for Chelsea, Mudryk’s dedication to the CS2 grind is undeniable. Data suggests he has played approximately 600 matches over the last few months. With an average match duration of 30 to 40 minutes, the winger has spent hundreds of hours in the server recently.
For a player who is currently unable to practice or play professional football, a 28-day ban from FACEIT might feel like a significant blow to his primary hobby.
FACEIT has not officially commented on the individual case, but the 28-day ban is consistent with their “Leagues & Ladders” and “Behavioral” policies regarding severe verbal abuse and the use of hate speech or references to ethnic cleansing.
