New season, same format
The returning event will once again use its unique format, where underdogs hunt down top teams for bounty-style upsets. According to BLAST, the team list was determined based on the official VRS rankings from July 4.
The event will be split into two stages. All 32 teams will compete online, with only eight advancing to the LAN final. The eight lowest-seeded squads will also get the advantage of picking their first-round matchups.
Spirit will return as defending champions after running the gauntlet in the inaugural season, where they beat Eternal Fire in the grand final.
Season 2 kicks off online on August 5 and concludes with a LAN final in Malta on August 17, just days before the Esports World Cup begins.
