BIG fly up the VRS after blameF addition

The new-look BIG, with Benjamin "blameF" Bremer, have climbed from 92nd in the VRS at the start of the year to 29th after just two events, losing only a single match in the process.

The new-look BIG, with Benjamin “blameF” Bremer, have climbed from 92nd in the VRS at the start of the year to 31st after just two events, losing only a single match in the process. Since joining BIG blameF has averaged a 1.50 rating.

Reconstructed roster

In what many would call a sideways move for the Dane, blameF was bought out from fnatic, where he played under the leadership of Rodion “fEAR” Smyk, to take over the role himself in BIG. While fnatic have gone winless in 2026 across three matches, BIG have done the opposite, winning nine of their first 10 matches and taking two tournament titles.

BIG started the year at Roman Imperium Cup IV, where they went 5-0 in matches and dropped only a single map on the way to the trophy. The Danish IGL averaged a 1.60 rating across 10 maps to help his team win the event.

But for teams needing to grind VRS points, there was no time to rest. Less than a week later, the team played the United21 Esplay Challenge, and it did not start well. BIG lost their opening match to Lilmix, although it was a best-of-one. From there, they did not drop another map for the rest of the tournament, winning the next four matches in a row to claim their second straight title.

It has not just been the addition of blameF that has helped revive the team. Josef “faveN” Baumann has also stepped in strongly, posting a 1.16 rating and taking some of the load off blameF’s shoulders.

A VRS problem

While the team has surged up the VRS, the real test starts now, as they have almost maxed out the LAN wins category, which is where the majority of their recent points come from.

The teams and tournaments they have played so far have been on the lower end of tier two, which means they have gained very few head-to-head points from their wins. At the same time, they have collected limited bounty points, as the teams they have beaten have not won much prize money recently.

In that regard, BIG have a bigger scalp coming up, as they have been invited to the CCT Season 3 Europe playoffs. With a $50,000 prize pool and teams like Virtus.pro and GamerLegion also invited, there is a chance for them to pick up some bounties.
