AURORA fumble TheMongolZ challenge and give up 11-0 lead

The Turkish side looked poised to take the series to a third map, until TheMongolZ pulled off a monumental comeback.

The Turkish side looked poised to make good on their bet, until TheMongolZ turned it around when least expected.

In the BLAST Bounty Draft yesterday, AURORA were the first to pick an opponent. They opted for TheMongolZ, the lowest seed of the possible options.

The series kicked off on AURORA’s map pick, where TheMongolZ put up a defensive wall to keep the terrorists only at four rounds at the half.

Despite an attempt from AURORA to steal the map on the T-side, ‘Azbayar’ Senzu Munkhbold’s top-rated performance kept TheMongolZ with the lead going into Mirage.

An 11-0 start, and disbelief followed

AURORA came onto TheMongolZ’s map pick with a vengeance, as they went on a tear right from the beginning.

While Ismailcan ‘XANTARES’ Dörtkardeş was unusually quiet, his co-stars stepped up to effectively secure the map for the Turks.

Ali ‘Wicadia’ Haydar Yalçın and Samet ‘jottAAA’ Köklü had 280 ADR between the both of them, destroying half of the opponents on average just by themselves on the defensive side.

An 11-1 half seemed insurmountable, but not for the Mongolians, who managed to bring the map to overtime. Talent and players alike were dumbfounded by this result, including Özgür ‘woxic’ Eker, who expressed his disbelief in Turkish via X.

In the end, it was the Mongolian captain Garidmagnai ‘bLitz’ Byambasuren who clutched out the map in overtime. He found a crucial 2k spray in the final round, and went 7-0 in opening kills across the map.

In the end, it was TheMongolZ to get their 6th top four finish of the year in unlikely fashion.
