Aurora beat down 9z to reach Major playoffs

woxic won a 1vs4 close-range AWP clutch to bury 9z's chances to qualify today.

woxic won a 1vs4 close-range AWP clutch to bury 9z’s chances to qualify today.

After beating 9z in 26-6 fashion, Caner ‘soulfly’ Kesici admited they were not the same threat as Spirit and Vitality faced in prior days.

They were not shooting as hard as usual.

With this win, Aurora qualifies to the IEM Cologne Major playoffs, after defeating Monte, G2 and now 9z.

9z faced Aurora to qualify for the playoffs after losing to Spirit yesterday after having multiple match points. They remain with one more chance to qualify, which they wil have tomorrow.

9z embarrassed on their map pick

9z picked Nuke, likely to punish Aurora’s dependence on a small map pool. However, it was 9z who were caught with their pants down.

After losing the pistol round, they almost won an eco round thanks to a ridiculous Deagle 2k from Matias ‘HUASOPEEK’ Ibañez Hernandez.

9z also won a round thanks to Luciano ‘luchov’ Herrera finding two crucial headshots in a 2vs2 they had no business winning in Round. After that, they got nothing else.

Caner ‘soulfly’ Kesici was in unplayable form, shutting down 9z’s attack wherever it went. On top of that, Aurora’s trio of stars were all firing at different moments.

By the time 9z reached the second half, they were down 1-11 after a dismal T-side which got nothing done. From there, they capitulated to lose the map 1-13.

woxic with the clutch of the tournament on Dust2

The early stages of Dust2 were back-and-forth, as 9z succesfully defended Aurora’s attacks. In Round 8, Özgür ‘woxic’ Eker was in an impossible situation alone on B-site with low HP.

Evading grenades, he managed to get the bomb down against four players, and the clutch of the tournament so far ensued.

From the 5-3 scoreline and economy advantage, Aurora bulldozed on beating down 9z. 9z managed to get one round cleanly, but it was all Aurora as they got an 8-4 half.

9z won the next pistol round, but Aurora returned the favor as soulfly killed a B-attack on arrival. After that, woxic continued his rampage, pushing Aurora easily over 9z into the Major playoffs.

Player of the match: woxic

Though soulfy was statistically the strongest player over both maps, woxic’s 1vs4 clutch was the individual moment of the match, and perhaps the Major. On top of that, he was consistent on Nuke, while dominating Dust2 with the AWP.

On the side of 9z, luchov was the only player to reach double-digit kills on both maps.
