Astralis prevail over FaZe in crazy overtime decider

Staehr had over 1000 grenade damage to knock out FaZe on Inferno.

Staehr had over 1000 grenade damage to knock out FaZe from EPL.

Astralis came through over FaZe 16-14 on the decider map, after being up 9-3. It got super close after FaZe won crucial clutches, but they let themselves down at the finish line.

FaZe got to map point first

After losing Ancient 3-13, FaZe actually came back from 3-9 down on Inferno. They got up to 12-11, after having a hot streak to start their CT-side.

However, Astralis came through in that round, and managed to get to overtime to prevent the choke.

FaZe choke the game away

“Honestly, we should have had one of the last rounds on Inferno,” said NEO, FaZe’s coach, after the match.

He was likely referring to the round where jcobbb got 2 kills from arch while undetected. From there, FaZe got the necessary trades, but lost a 2v1 to ryu as jcobbb and broky both ran into his crosshair.

From there, they were down 14-15, and capitulated once Astralis got to match point.

Staehr delivering from star positions

Staehr was crucial in delivering Astralis this win. He was the top-fragger in the series, and got over 1000 utility damage on Inferno to constantly stifle FaZe.

On top of that, he has been Astralis’s top performer at EPL with a 1.22 rating. His teammate jabbi is not far off himself with a 1.20.

Since moving into the star positions, Staehr has been delivering numbers, key in defeating teams like FaZe.

Frozen disappointed again

Visibly frustrated, frozen lost this series despite posting 50 kills and a 1.23 rating. He was also one of the top-rated players of the event with a 1.20 rating.

On Inferno, he single-handedly gave FaZe a chance with a 1.63 rating. But once again, FaZe taste defeat early at this tournament afet only winning one series over Monte.
