The two former Heroic players Martin “stavn” Lund og Jakob “jabbi” Nygaard will be in focus, when Astralis face Heroic in the first round matchup at the Play-in tournament for IEM Katowice. The opening round sees the two rivals fighting for a spot in the main event at IEM Katowice.
Cloud9, ENCE, Spirit, and FURIA are also among the teams in the Play-in tournament, where eight teams in total will qualify for IEM Katowice that are set to start February 3rd, while the Play-in tournament starts January 31st.

Eight teams are already qualified for the main event, and have been divided into two groups:
Group A: FaZe, Falcons, NAVI, Complexity + 4 Play-in teams
Group B: Vitality, MOUZ, G2, Monte + 4 Play-in teams
Every team qualified for IEM Katowice is guarenteed $10,000 in earnings, while the winner of the main event will take home $400,000 in first prize.
