Astralis is out of the FISSURE Playground 3 tournament in China after a 1-2 loss to the Mongolian roster 5star. The Danish squad began the event with a strong 2-1 victory over G2 but failed to maintain their momentum, losing to BetBoom yesterday before falling to 5star in today’s elimination series.
Major qualification chances decrease
A victory today would have put Astralis on a clear path to the Singapore Major, raising their estimated qualification chances to 91.2%. With this early exit, their projection now drops to 78.7%. The team will need to regroup to secure their spot at the upcoming Major.
A tense series concludes on Cache
The series began on Inferno, where 5star took immediate control. The Mongolian team secured a dominant 9-3 lead in the first half. While Astralis mounted a stronger defense after the side switch, the early deficit proved too large, resulting in a 13-10 win for 5star.
Astralis responded on Ancient. Led by in-game leader HooXi, the Danish team held a narrow 7-5 advantage at halftime. In the second half, Astralis completely shut down the opposition, winning six consecutive rounds to close the map 13-5 and force a decider.
The final map, Cache, delivered a closely contested battle. 5star secured a 7-5 lead by halftime. The second half saw the teams trading rounds back and forth, but 5star managed to break the deadlock and secure the victory in the 24th and final round in regulation, winning 13-11.
The result sends 5star to the lower bracket final, where they will face G2 for a spot in the playoffs. Despite strong individual statistical performances from Gytis “ryu” Glušauskas and Victor “Staehr” Staehr, Astralis leaves the tournament empty-handed.
