Spirit, MOUZ, and Falcons — three of the biggest title contenders in Austin — have all been eliminated and will not fight for the trophy tomorrow.
But according to Dan “apEX” Madesclaire, Vitality’s toughest test at the BLAST.tv Austin Major is still ahead.
In a short post-match interview with Pley after beating MOUZ in the semifinals, apEX made it clear: the job’s not done yet.
– No, never, apEX said when asked if the hardest part of the playoff was already behind them.
– The final is always the hardest. We’ve seen so many underdogs winning the Major and winning big trophies in sports in general. So no, the job is not done.
Seven in a row
Today’s semifinal victory over MOUZ did not secure Vitality a Grand Final spot, but it also marked their seventh win in a row over Ludvig “Brollan” Brolin and company.
Something that pleased apEX in the mixed zone.
– It feels good. This was the seventh win in a row against them. We’re dominating, and I can’t say more about that. We’re just playing great Counter-Strike, and we’re showing up, and that’s what I like.
– We try not to think about it – about what has happened before [against MOUZ]. We just try to beat them every time we face them. That’s what we want.
On the impressive reset for the third deciding map, apEX said the following.
– What was key after losing on Inferno was just saying: “Okay, this is fine.” They destroyed us on one map, but we can do the same and show up on Train – and that was what we did.
