Dan “apEX” Madesclaire is often found at the bottom of the scoreboard.
But not last night.
In Vitality’s Grand Final victory at the BLAST.tv Austin Major, French captain led from the front, finishing with a 1.37 rating — the highest on the server — as they took down The MongolZ to claim the title.
After the win, the 32-year-old IGL summed it up in classic fashion.
– You see that old people can still frag, apEX said to Pley with a cheeky smile.
Reflecting on the victory, apEX said he was proud the team managed to close the season with the biggest trophy of all.
– It’s an amazing feeling, of the best I’ve ever had, and I hope it’s going to continue. (…) This one was really particular, because we had to end this season on the right way, and I’m really proud of that.
Important reset
The MongolZ were not ready to give up the trophy for free last night, with the Mongolian underdogs demolishing Vitality on the first map of Mirage.
We asked apEX how they managed to reset after such a tough start.
– We had to stay composed. I told the guys: “Yeah, we played really bad, but one map does not define Vitality. Let’s show up, and I promise you we’re going to win the Major.” That was my words.
“Era”
If there were to be made a documentary about this Vitality run, what should the title be?
– Era.
What’s the plan for tonight?
– We will celebrate together with the team. Getting drunk, whatever. But celebrate with my boys.
