Spirit, Vitality, MOUZ, FURIA and Falcons headline an eight-team field for the $1,000,000 event in Hong Kong next month. FURIA return as defending champions.
BLAST has revealed the eight teams for BLAST Rivals Season 2, which takes place at AsiaWorld-Expo in Hong Kong from 11 to 15 November. The field includes all five teams at the top of HLTV’s world ranking.
The teams
Aurora, sixth in the ranking, are the highest-ranked team not on the list.
FURIA won the Hong Kong edition last year, beating Falcons in the final. That event had a prize pool of $350,000. This year it is $1,000,000, with $250,000 for the winner. Vitality won Season 1 earlier this year, beating Natus Vincere in the final.
FURIA’s place is notable given their schedule. The Brazilian-majority side are in the Thunderpick World Championship semi-finals in Malta on Saturday and have spoken openly about how tough their calendar has been this autumn.
Format
The teams are split into two double-elimination groups with Bo3 matches on 11 and 12 November. The group winners go straight to the semi-finals, while second and third place meet in the quarter-finals. The playoffs run from 13 to 15 November, with a Bo5 grand final.
