Apex Legends Overdrive – New Legend Abilities

A brand-new Legend, Overdrive, is reportedly coming soon to Apex Legends. While Respawn hasn’t officially confirmed his release, multiple leaks point to Overdrive being a movement-based Legend focused entirely on sliding speed and agility.

Overdrive passive abilities

According to data miner Hypermyst, two new passives were found in the game files:

  • Enhanced Slide
  • Slide Control

Judging by their names, Overdrive could have the ability to change direction mid-slide, allowing for sharp turns similar to tap-strafing, but while staying grounded. This would make him one of the most mobile Legends in the game.

Some fans have also noticed similarities to Fade from Apex Legends Mobile. Fade’s passive gave him a speed boost after sliding, and Overdrive’s Enhanced Slide might work in a similar way, offering short bursts of acceleration at the end of a slide.

Possible playstyle and mechanics

If these leaks are accurate, Overdrive could become a high-skill movement Legend similar to Octane, Horizon, or Wraith. His playstyle would likely focus on aggressive repositioning and flanking, using slides to dodge bullets and weave through enemies.

The Slide Control ability might even allow players to cancel or redirect slides mid-movement, giving Overdrive unmatched flexibility in fast-paced fights.

Release window and upcoming leaks

While there’s no confirmed release date yet, files for banner poses and intro lines have already been added, suggesting Overdrive’s launch could happen within the next few seasons. More details about his tactical and ultimate abilities are expected to surface soon as data miners uncover additional files.

Extra leaks: R-301 & Volt reactive recolors

Alongside Overdrive, Apex Legends will soon release new reactive weapon skin recolors.

  • R-301 Reactive Skin Recolor – confirmed in the latest patch data
  • Volt SMG Reactive Skin Recolor – previously leaked

These will mark the first time two reactive skin recolors drop within the same content cycle.
