Respawn Entertainment has deployed a new update for Apex Legends aimed at resolving critical performance bugs and shifting the competitive legend balance. The core of this update focuses on targeted adjustments to Seer, whose current ability kit has drawn significant community frustration regarding tactical ability frequency. Additionally, the patch addresses widespread connectivity errors and clarifies a previous miscommunication regarding the Bot Royale Evolved matchmaking distribution.
- Console stability improves with the global resolution of error code truck across all major platforms.
- Seer receives a significant balance adjustment by shifting key upgrades to the same tier to eliminate tactical ability spam.
- Developers correct previous patch notes regarding Bot Royale Evolved, noting that multiple player squads can still occasionally share matches.
Legend Balance Adjustments for Seer

The development team has implemented urgent changes to Seer to curb the high frequency of his tactical ability during combat encounters. Prior to this patch, the combined pick rates for Seer’s tactical upgrades allowed players to deploy multiple silences in rapid succession, creating an oppressive gameplay loop. By reshuffling his upgrade path, developers aim to force situational decision making rather than allowing complementary cooldown stacks.
Shift in Upgrade Tree Structure
The primary methodology for balancing Seer involves rearranging his perk choices at level two and level three. Players will no longer be able to combine the extra tactical charge with the reduced tactical cooldown while standing inside his ultimate ability zone.
| Upgrade Name | Previous Tier | New Tier | Functional Change |
| Home Base | Level 2 | Level 3 | Modifier reduced to 2.5, increasing tactical cooldown from 5 seconds to 8 seconds inside the ultimate zone. |
| Energizing Focus | Level 3 | Level 2 | Regenerates shields upon successful tactical hits, now available earlier in the match. |
Developer Intent and Data Insights
According to telemetry data released by Respawn Entertainment, the two tactical upgrades saw pick rates of approximately 90 percent and 80 percent respectively at the start of the current split. The studio noted that a prominent Seer meta is inherently oppressive to the health of the game, necessitating these immediate adjustments to combat tactical spamming. The developers will continue to monitor performance data to determine if further changes are required.
Full Developer Note
Dev note: We have seen the frustrations surrounding Seer and are making urgent changes. The above changes are meant to reduce the frequency with which you’ll encounter Seer’s Tactical. At split start, the the most picked Upgrades (2 Tac charges / reduced Tac cooldown in Ult) saw ~90% and ~80% pick rates, respectively. When combined, players have access to 2 Tac charges on a very short cooldown. By moving both to level 3, players can only have one. These changes should address complaints of Tactical spamming in Ult, while keeping the intended power of those two upgrades in place. As we discussed in our most recent Designer’s Notes, Seer is a tricky Legend to balance, as a prominent Seer meta is an oppressive one; we will continue to monitor Seer’s performance and make additional adjustments as necessary.
Technical Bug Fixes and Mode Corrections
Beyond legend balance, the patch resolves a prominent infrastructure issue that hindered players from maintaining stable connections to the game servers. The deployment confirms that error code truck, which was resolved for Steam and EA App users last week, has now been fully corrected across all console versions.
Bot Royale Evolved Matchmaking Clarification
Respawn Entertainment also issued a correction regarding the behavior of Bot Royale Evolved. While initial statements suggested that matches would strictly feature only one human player squad, recent telemetry shows that multiple squads are still being placed together under certain conditions.
- Most matches will still correctly feature only one human squad against AI opponents.
- Approximately 5 percent of standard matches currently contain two human teams.
- During peak matchmaking hours, the frequency of dual-squad matches rises to roughly 15 percent.
Audio Enhancements and Sparrow Fixes
This update also introduces targeted quality of life improvements to match audio and legend stability. Players will notice increased audio volume when respawning from a Death Box, a change designed to provide better situational awareness during intense matches. Additionally, the developers resolved a bug where Sparrow could mistakenly respawn with a fully charged Ultimate, ensuring competitive fairness across all modes.
This targeted update reflects Respawn Entertainment’s ongoing commitment to maintaining competitive integrity and server stability. By addressing both technical hurdles and community frustration regarding Seer, the studio aims to foster a healthier meta. Players can download the patch immediately on all supported platforms.
