FaZe at risk of missing the Major after GamerLegion loss

FaZe's tumultuous Major qualification saga continues, zigging where they should have zagged against GamerLegion.

FaZe’s tumultuous Major qualification saga continues, zigging where they should have zagged against GamerLegion.

After being near-qualified to the PGL Singapore Major, FaZe have added another chapter to their story of brawls needed to reach the coveted Major stage.

A semi-final series against GamerLegion at RLG Tesla Cup is all they needed to win to be “>99%” qualified to the upcoming Major, according to HLTV’s simulation, but fell over the course of a three-map series.

GamerLegion, fresh off of replacing their captain, upset FaZe Clan with the help of a superb Fredrik ‘REZ’ Sterner who dropped a server-high 1.44 rating. On the other side, a heroic attempt from captain Russel ‘Twistzz’ Van Dulken was insufficient to virtually secure a Major spot.

According to Udknud on X, his estimate show that FaZe need to win their 3rd-4th place decider at RLG Tesla Cup against B8 to feel confident about reaching the Major by the November 2nd cutoff.

An uncharacteristically amiss frozen

GamerLegion took the first map off FaZe after being down in the dumps. GamerLegion went on a 9-1 run after being down 4-8, blowing FaZe out of the water on their pick of Dust2 to win 13-9.

On Mirage, FaZe showed character where they lacked quality. David ‘frozen’ Čerňanský had a brilliant individual performance to keep FaZe in the series, helping win the map 16-14 with 28 kills.

The decider of Nuke is where it fell apart for FaZe. No longer was frozen dragging them through rounds, as he dropped to a 0.62 rating as GamerLegion won the map easily 13-7.

Ryan ‘Neityu’ Aubry had an appalling series, with a 0.61 rating overall, as Twistzz both in-game led FaZe and carried FaZe with a 1.38 rating.

B8 vs FaZe today to potentially decide Major spot

The matchup will take place today on Kick today at 16.20 CEST which will be massive for both teams’ Major fate, but even more so for B8.

According to HLTV’s simulation, a win for B8 here will mean an 83% chance to qualify, while a loss drops them to 23% chance. For FaZe, it is a >99% or a 74% chance for each result, respectively.
