The PARIVISION coach says he has stopped pressing his players after a talk with Jame, and that the new lineup with HObbit and FL1T needs support more than pressure. Hours later, PARIVISION were knocked out of the Thunderpick World Championship in last place.
In earlier interviews, dastan talked openly about which of PARIVISION’s young players could be replaced. In Malta, the Kazakh coach described a different approach.
Speaking on the Thunderpick World Championship broadcast before the elimination match against BETBOOM, he said the change started with a conversation with his in-game leader Jame. According to dastan, Jame told him that with experienced players like HObbit and FL1T in the team, he could “chill a bit”.
After that, I also need to change, because I’m asking players to improve. I also need to improve.
He added that it was always easier to stay positive with results behind you. “I also, of course, I want to change and be nice,” dastan said. “But better to be nice when you’re winning. Don’t forget about it.”
“When you win, it heals everything”
dastan said the new approach was tested at ESL Pro League Season 24, where PARIVISION reached the playoffs. After losses, he said, he gave the players fist bumps on the team bus instead of criticising them.
You know that on Russian, we talk like, when you win, it heals everything. If you won, you forget about it. If you lose, you start… we need to change something.
He said the older players now share the responsibility that used to sit with him. “When it was younger […] I feel that always is on me,” dastan said. “But now I feel that if we win, we all win.”
The coach also said he would return home to Kazakhstan in eight days for the first time in a long while, after two years with PARIVISION, and that he wanted to do so “with good mood”.
A bad day in Malta
The good mood did not survive the day. PARIVISION won Ancient 13-10 against BETBOOM, helped by a 2.82 rating from xiELO on the CT side according to HLTV, but lost Anubis 4-13 and Mirage 7-13. They left the Thunderpick World Championship in last place after losses to Legacy and BETBOOM.
FL1T finished the series with a 0.61 rating, and HObbit with 0.79. Jame and xiELO both ended on 1.13.
Before the match, dastan had played down the stakes. “It’s CIS derby. Always we want to win, but this game is not like super big,” he said, adding that he missed the “old Boombl4”, who has “become nice”.
Still in the Major race
dastan stressed that PARIVISION are still fighting for a place at the PGL Singapore Major and for invites in 2027. “We need a lot of points. We need to go as much as we can,” he said. “But when I talk with guys, I try to not give big pressure.”
The invite deadline for the Singapore Major is in early November.
