Pley.gg has entered a strategic partnership with SkinScanner.gg, a price comparison platform for Counter-Strike 2 in-game assets. The agreement aligns with a recent £350,000 pre-seed funding round closed by the startup, aimed at expanding its data tools and marketplace coverage for the CS2 community. The partnership means that SkinScanner will be featured on Pley.gg as the preferred partner in skins in the near future.
Simon Damgaard, Chief Commercial Officer at Pley Media Group, outlined the reasoning behind the collaboration and the value it brings to readers.
“We are excited to partner up with SkinScanner,” Damgaard stated. “We believe that this is an excellent example of how we can improve the CS community with a partner that makes it easier for people to navigate the skins market without getting scammed.”
Advancing tools for Counter-Strike players
For active participants in the CS2 economy, the recent funding round supports specific technical improvements. The capital will fund wider marketplace coverage beyond the 24 sites SkinScanner currently tracks. It also enables more accurate live pricing and the continued development of specific tools like float and pattern filtering.

These features assist traders in avoiding overpaying or underselling, a function that holds practical value during periods of market volatility. Such market shifts often occur around Major championships or changes to Valve’s trade-up system. The tracking additions are designed to give users a clearer view of an economy with an estimated market capitalization of $6.9 billion.
The company recently hired a well-known CS figure, Niels “rizc” Topp, who is looking to use his many years in the world of Counter-Strike to further align SkinScanner with what CS skin aficionados are looking for.
Securing industry backing
SkinScanner was co-founded by Joshua Sinclair and Nathan Engolodoe. The £350,000 pre-seed round includes backing from Baltic Ventures and Graeme Ankers, former Managing Director of Liverpool games studio Firesprite.

The platform operates as a free comparison site aggregating live prices to identify buying and selling opportunities. In its first year, the startup has built a user base of over 40,000 monthly active users and directs over £3 million in monthly referred traffic to various CS2 marketplaces. The platform has also established active partnerships with 10 major CS2 market websites.
Establishing a complete data source
With continuous growth in the esports and gaming sector, SkinScanner aims to centralize pricing data and market tracking for players and collectors.
“Our long-term vision is to become the most trusted and complete live data ecosystem for the entire skins trading world, not just a place to compare prices, but the source traders come back to for pricing, marketplace transparency and everything shaping the market,” co-founder of Skinscanner.gg Joshua Sinclair stated. “This round is a step towards that: more coverage, better insight, and a market that’s genuinely easier to trust.”
