Apex Legends Season 30 Overview: Weapon Changes, Map Updates, and Bloodhound Rework

Respawn Entertainment has revealed the comprehensive patch notes for Apex Legends Season 30. The upcoming update fundamentally alters the core gameplay loop by overhauling the energy ammunition system, rebalancing the loot economy, and introducing a new tier of weapon attachments. Furthermore, the season brings substantial structural changes to World’s Edge and a complete mechanical rework for Bloodhound.

TL;DR

  • Energy ammunition is completely removed from the ground loot pool in favor of a regenerating stockpile system.
  • Gold attachments are replaced by Corrupted Attachments that offer significant tactical tradeoffs.
  • Early game loot progression is intentionally slowed by removing extended supply bins and initial armory access.
  • World’s Edge receives a nighttime visual overhaul alongside the return of Sorting Factory and the Five Stack building.
  • Bloodhound receives a complete rework featuring area of effect cloaking and modified scanning mechanics.
  • Loba and Rampart receive targeted tactical and ultimate ability enhancements to improve their mobility.

Ammunition Economy and Weapon Adjustments

The most significant mechanical shift in Season 30 is the complete removal of energy ammunition from the standard ground loot pool. Energy weapons will now operate on a regenerating ammunition stockpile system. Weapons will spawn with a predetermined reserve of ammunition that automatically regenerates over time when the player is not actively firing, reloading, or taking damage. A complete magazine recharge requires exactly 18 seconds of uninterrupted downtime. The initial stockpile capacity scales based on the specific weapon class. The development team also confirmed a targeted damage reduction for the RE45 machine pistol, though specific numerical adjustments were not disclosed.

Early Game Loot Progression Changes

Respawn Entertainment is adjusting the pacing of player loadout progression to mitigate early game power spikes. The overall probability of finding high tier loot during the initial drop phase has been reduced across all maps. This systemic slowdown is achieved through the complete removal of extended supply bins and the disabling of armory access during the opening minutes of a match. Additionally, defeating wildlife such as prowlers and spiders will no longer trigger the smart loot system, meaning players can no longer rely on these encounters to perfectly complete their weapon attachments early in the match.

Introduction of Corrupted Attachments

All gold tier attachments have been permanently removed from the loot pool. They are replaced by Corrupted Attachments, a new mechanic designed to introduce risk and reward into late game loadouts. Each Corrupted Attachment provides a massive statistical advantage coupled with a severe mechanical penalty. Players are strictly limited to equipping one Corrupted Attachment per weapon. These attachments retain the baseline benefits of their purple tier equivalents in addition to their unique modified traits.

  • Rapid Sniper Stock: Increases the overall rate of fire but heavily reduces the total magazine size.
  • Overflowing Magazine: Substantially increases magazine capacity but heavily penalizes the weapon reload speed depending on the weapon class.
  • Head Seeker: Amplifies headshot damage multipliers but introduces severe accuracy bloom during hipfire combat.
  • Tactical Laser: Accelerates reload animations but degrades aim down sight recoil control.
  • Agile Standard Stock: Eliminates sprint penalties while holding a weapon and increases aim down sight strafe speeds but forces a smaller magazine capacity.

World’s Edge Point of Interest Updates

The map rotation for Season 30 includes World’s Edge, Storm Point, and E-District. World’s Edge receives a comprehensive visual update featuring a nighttime setting with aurora borealis environmental lighting.

Lava Siphon has been completely removed to make way for the return of Sorting Factory. This iteration of Sorting Factory is not a direct replica of the original but rather a hybrid that integrates modern rotation pathways and adjusted choke points. Furthermore, the heavily contested Five Stack building is returning to its original location within Fragment to help distribute player landing densities. Big Maude is relocating to the center of the map at Landslide. The area previously occupied by Big Maude will revert to the classic settlement layout featuring new foundation structures and modified interior combat spaces. Stacks is also receiving expanded ground foundations to improve structural balance during late game ring closures.

Bloodhound Town Takeovers

Coinciding with Bloodhound’s mechanical rework, three distinct points of interest on World’s Edge have been redesigned to reflect a tribal aesthetic.

  • Climatizer is transformed into a tribal settlement anchored by massive longhouse architecture.
  • Survey Camp is replaced by War Camp, introducing a dedicated close quarters arena environment.
  • Tree Settlement introduces new elevated structures to facilitate highly vertical combat engagements.

Legend Reworks and Balance Updates

Bloodhound’s tracker identity has been completely reimagined to focus on lethal hunting mechanics rather than purely passive information gathering. Their passive ability now leaves a highly visible glowing trail behind moving enemies, and white ravens can be activated via direct line of sight. The tactical scan has been modified to provide three seconds of total visibility followed by a slow blinking snapshot effect that tracks enemy positions intermittently.

Bloodhound Ultimate and Perk Adjustments

The new ultimate ability is called All Father’s Cloak. Bloodhound deploys an area of effect zone that grants an active cloaking effect. Any legend that enters this radius receives bonus movement speed, threat vision, and invisibility.

The cloaking effect persists briefly upon exiting the zone but is immediately canceled if the player fires a weapon or sustains damage. Bloodhound’s perk tree has been updated to synergize with these new mechanics. Hidden Sight refreshes the tactical scan upon ultimate activation and masks the player from enemy detection. Bird’s Eyes deploys white ravens to scout a secondary enemy squad independently. True Predator allows Bloodhound to re-enter the cloaked state shortly after discharging a weapon.

Loba and Rampart Tactical Enhancements

Two other legends receive targeted improvements to their ability kits. Loba benefits from a reduced cooldown timer on her Black Market ultimate ability. Her tactical bracelet now travels at a higher velocity and covers a significantly greater distance to improve her escape capabilities. Rampart mains receive enhanced mobility, as she can now move at a faster base speed while actively firing Sheila. Additionally, her Amped Cover walls deploy faster and possess a higher health threshold against incoming damage.

Season 30 Cosmetics and Battle Pass

The update introduces a new tier of mythic cosmetic items starting with the All Father’s Fury skin for the CAR SMG. This cosmetic weapon features five distinct customizable tiers that players can unlock using exotic shards. A standard seasonal battle pass will also be available featuring multiple premium reward tracks and character skins.

The adjustments introduced in Season 30 represent a clear effort to balance early game pacing and elevate late game strategy. By reevaluating core systems like ammunition availability and attachment mechanics, Respawn Entertainment continues to refine the competitive dynamic of Apex Legends for both casual and high-level play.
