BLAST announces 2027 tournament in Mongolia

BLAST Open Ulaanbataar will take place from the 10th to the 23rd of May.

BLAST Open Ulaanbataar will take place from the 10th to the 23rd of May.

Mongolia will be the host of a $1,250,000-tournament including 16 teams.

BLAST said that Mongolia is one of the fastest-growing esports communities.

The passion fans show for Counter-Strike is some of most dedicated in the world, filling arenas to watch tournaments thousands of miles away at the early hours of the morning.

The tournament will take place in May 2027, and citing The Mongolz’s run at the Austin Major, BLAST talked about key highlights from the Mongolian scene. However, with the Mongolz in free fall after losing Ayush ‘mzinho’ Batbold, it remains to be seen if they can show a good face in Ulaanbataar.

Qualification

Of these teams, 11 will be invited via the global Valve Regional Standings (VRS) while the remaining five will arrive through regional qualifiers. Two of these five teams will be from the Asian region, while the three others will come from the North American, South American and European regions.

Introduction of “Acceptance Fee” Model

BLAST also announced a “new” acceptance fee model, where teams (not players) will receive a cash payout simply by accepting their VRS invite to the tournament. Details in the image below.
