B8 eliminate MIBR following three-map battle in Cologne

B8 have secured their survival in the tournament after defeating MIBR 2-1 in the elimination round. The Ukrainian roster overcame an initial defeat on Mirage to reverse the momentum on Nuke and close out the series on Ancient. With this result, MIBR are eliminated from the event, while B8 advance to the 2-2 bracket to play for a spot in the next stage.

MIBR dominate the opening map on Mirage

The series opened on Mirage, a map selected by B8. Despite it being the choice of the Ukrainian squad, MIBR established control early on. The Brazilian defensive side proved impenetrable for B8, who struggled to find openings or map control on their T-side. MIBR built a commanding 10-2 lead by the conclusion of the first half.

Following the side switch, B8 attempted a recovery on their defensive side, putting together a brief run of rounds. However, the deficit from the opening half proved too large to overcome. MIBR quickly secured the remaining points required to finish the map 13-7, taking a 1-0 lead in the series.

B8 answer back with strong Nuke performance

The second map took the teams to Nuke, picked by MIBR. In a mirror image of the first map, B8 executed a flawless defensive half of their own. The Ukrainians anticipated the aggressive executes from MIBR, matching the previous map’s scoreline with a 10-2 advantage at the break.

MIBR mounted a serious comeback attempt in the second half, exposing gaps in the B8 offense and narrowing the score significantly. Despite the pressure, B8 managed to secure the critical rounds needed to prevent overtime, taking the map 13-10 and forcing the series into a decider.

Decider on Ancient seals MIBR’s elimination

With both teams securing identical 10-2 defensive halves on the first two maps, the narrative shifted to Ancient. B8 managed to break the defensive trend by securing a 7-5 lead on their offensive half. The primary obstacle for the Ukrainians was Felipe “insani” Yuji, who kept MIBR competitive. The Brazilian player put up a dominant individual performance, ending the first half with 19 kills, 5 deaths, and an average damage per round of 149.7.

MIBR won the opening two rounds of the second half to equalize the score at 7-7. B8 regained composure through disciplined teamplay and calculated utility usage. The Ukrainian roster demonstrated the necessary patience in late-round situations to win the final map 13-8.

The victory keeps B8 alive in the tournament. They move into tomorrow’s 2-2 progression matches, where their final opponent of Stage 2 will be determined later tonight. MIBR exit the competition following the defeat.
