Swedish In-Game Leader Hampus “hampus” Poser revealed to the Counter-Strike community yesterday that he had been fighting and has successfully defeated cancer.
The 27-year-old took to social media to share the deeply personal news, explaining that the diagnosis came last year. Kept entirely private from the public eye, the Swedish veteran battled the illness behind the scenes while still competing.
The CS community was completely unaware of the severity of hampus’ health struggles. However, looking back at his recent competitive timeline, the announcement adds massive context to his 2025 season.
On October 7th, 2025, his former team, 500, announced they would be fielding a substitute player while hampus recovered from a surgery. Astonishingly, the Swede was back on the server just eight days later, playing official matches by October 15th.
A downward trajectory
During his tenure with Ninjas in Pyjamas, hampus established himself as one of the most mechanically gifted and aggressive IGLs in the top tier of Counter-Strike. Following his departure from NIP’s active roster in late 2023, his career took a noticeable downward trajectory, with stints in BLEED, Johnny Speeds, Metizport, and most recently, 500.
Ready for the server again
Now healthy and a free agent since parting ways with 500 at the start of the year, hampus is looking to the future. In a follow-up post, he made it clear that the fire to compete is still burning bright, and he is willing to adapt his role for the right project.
