FaZe Clan was a single round away from being eliminated from the Major by Red Canids, with chayJESUS top-fragging.

FaZe Clan, an organization synonymous with major success, found itself on a 1-2 record in the first stage at Budapest. They beat Lynn Vision easily in their opener, but were stunned by NRG and NIP in the following.

Red Canids were defeated by fellow South Americans on Legacy, and in a close map against Fnatic.

FaZe came in as the favorite, with storied players on their roster, facing a team’s debut at the Major stage.

FaZe lose their map pick

The first map was on Mirage, FaZe Clan’s pick, as they looked to turn their fortunes around. Initially, it was 3-3 after Red Canids won the pistol.

FaZe lost 6 rounds in a row on their offensive side, giving up a 3-9 half. Nobody on FaZe’s side had a positive K/D, with broky going 2-9. FaZe were outplayed across the board.

Broky got a 3k in the following pistol round, initiating a FaZe comeback. But it was short-lived, as frozen gave up a free kill at 7-10, impeding a potential retake on A.

Red Canids were decisive in their executes, as FaZe could not put holds together on either site.

frozen puts FaZe on his back

On Nuke, Red Canids’ pick, FaZe looked to be back in form. frozen was fantastic on the defensive side, getting 10 multikills across the map.

Still, FaZe was in dire straits. Blowing a 6-2 lead in the opening half, Red Canids rallied to make it 6-6. On their CT-side, they got off to a great start.

At 9-6, frozen got a crucial 3k with a tec-9 to save FaZe from defeat. They actually made it to a 10-10 scoreline, intil they lost to a half-buy.

At 12-10, FaZe brought the magic, including a 1v1 win from karrigan with less than a second away from losing to a defuse.

In overtime, it was a true back-and-forth, as Red Canids got to 15-12, but FaZe replied with frozen getting 2 multikills to keep them alive and back at 15-15.

In the next overtime, FaZe lost 2 T rounds, putting them in dire straits again. But then, they returned with 3 T rounds in a row to seal the map!

It went to Inferno, where FaZe dominated the match.

FaZe clean up Inferno

Despite arguably deserving to lose Nuke, FaZe looked like a superior team on Inferno.

They won 13-5, with frozen saying after that “they felt in control the whole time” on the map.

They move on to the 2-2 match where they await an opponent.

Broky needs to bring better form, garnering only an 0.88 rating in this near loss to Red Canids.
