FURIA clutch out fourth grand final in a row against Falcons

They have defeated both Vitality and Falcons in BO5s going into the Major.

They have defeated both Vitality and Falcons in BO5s going into the Major.

Despite facing a tenacious m0NESY and kyxsan, FURIA clutched out the two final maps in overtime to take the BLAST Rivals Season 2 title in 3-1 fashion. The final map included a 1v4 clutch from KSCERATO and a 2v5 from the aforementioned Falcons.

NiKo was absent, with the lowest kills on his team throughout the series.

FURIA opted to take the series to Inferno as a punish, like in Chengdu where yuurih went nuclear farming the Falcons.

Inferno pick backfires

This time, things did not go as planned for them.

They got annihilated by Falcons’ CT-side, which found multikill after multikill against them. m0NESY continued his MVP form, but kyxsan was the star of the show. FURIA barely planted the bomb at all, and when they did, kyxsan was there to clutch an improbable 1v2.

Speaking of kyxsan’s clutch, he also pulled off a 1v3 post-plant in the pistol to effectively seal the map at a 11-2 scoreline. FURIA were left with the hopes of pulling out Falcons’ pick of Nuke.

Nuke started swimmingly for FURIA, as they lost the pistol but won the force buy. They got off to a 6-1 lead on their defensive side, looking to run away with it. It would not be so easy, as Falcons went on a 5-round streak to tie up the map. Falcons consistently won opening trades and closed out efficiently.

YEKINDAR carries FURIA with a 4.06 rating on the attack

Going on a bombastic 21-3 terrorist half, YEKINDAR was indomitable, and single-handedly gave FURIA the map.

The half started well for Falcons, losing the pistol but winning a round thanks to NiKo’s Desert Eagle from nowhere.

Following this, YEKINDAR continued to bully FURIA outside, finding headshot after headshot. 70% of YEKINDAR’s kills were headshots on the T-side. Falcons fought back with a stellar kyousuke, getting a 3k spraydown on ramp by himself against 4 players.

Still, it was not enough to quell YEKINDAR, who got a 4k outside, and finished the map with a 3k clutch to somehow win Nuke 13-9.

Train was the closest map of the series, requiring two overtimes to decide the winner. FURIA got the opening rounds on the attack thanks to good openings. Falcons looked superior when getting weapons into their hands, going on a 7-round streak.

This included a timely 1v2 clutch for kyxsan, who had to do a 180-degree spin to kill a flanking YEKINDAR and defuse.

FURIA clawed back 2 more rounds, however, and made it a 5-7 half. The second half was back-and-forth, with the two teams finding it hard to streak rounds together.

At 11-11, m0NESY had a chance to close a 1v4, but was denied by the final CT. Still, Falcons forced overtime.

Molodoy makes late arrival on Train

Absent throughout the series, molodoy finally turned his lights on in overtime, and delivered a fantastic performance to give FURIA the map.

Yuurih almost won a 1v3 in the first OT, and TeSeS made a crucial mistake failing to kill molodoy. All this led to a 15-15 scoreline, which was then broken by the AWP highlights of molodoy.

He won a crucial 1v1 against m0NESY on B-site after picking off 4 himself with the AWP. On match point, he also got a 4k with a no-scope included to close the map.

It was better late than never. NiKo couldn’t say the same, as he remained largely absent while his peers outperformed him.

On Mirage, molodoy’s hot form continued as he gave FURIA a lead on the CT side. He had a whopping 24-6 K/D on the CT side by the end of the map.

Falcons made a big comeback, and put themselves in position to win the map in the second half.

KSCERATO denies Falcons

The turning point was another clutch, this time from KSCERATO. He won a 1v4 by himself on the A site with no bomb planted. He closed the final 1v2 with 13 HP from sandwich, to keep Falcons off match point.

In Round 22, TeSeS got a 3k defending the B site that kept FURIA off match point. Overall, TeSeS was key in locking down Falcons’ CT side.

In OT, it looked like Falcons had it as they won 3 CT rounds in a row. But FURIA came back with three rounds of their own!

Then, Falcons got a lifeline from m0NESY and kyxsan who won a crucial 2v5, with electric shots from m0NESY.

However, it was all for naught, as FURIA took 4 rounds in a row to secure their third trophy in a row.

M0NESY and kyxsan were the highest-rated players of the series, with 1.30 each.

YEKINDAR was the highest for FURIA overall at 1.24, and his Nuke T-side performance stands out from the rest.
