Ayush “mzinho” Batbold and The MongolZ pulled off one of the biggest surprises of the BLAST.tv Austin Major, defeating FaZe 2-0 in the Quarter-Finals. After the match, the 17-year-old reflected on the win, s1mple’s struggles, and the road ahead.
s1mple’s off day
“Beating FaZe means a lot,” mzinho said. “They have guys like rain, karrigan, and s1mple. Pure experience.”
Asked about s1mple’s lackluster performance, mzinho was blunt. “He didn’t play bad, but usually he doesn’t play like this. I don’t know what happened.”
The MongolZ capitalized on FaZe’s mistakes, especially on their CT side. “We practiced Ancient a lot during the break. It paid off.”
Eyes on paiN
Next up is a Semi-Final against paiN, a team The MongolZ are familiar with. “We scrimmed them four or five times. They were solid,” mzinho said.
Despite the win, mzinho isn’t celebrating yet. “We only beat FaZe, not everyone. No time to celebrate. Only winning the Major is worth that.”
Confident but grounded, The MongolZ are ready for the next step.
