Heading into 2025, Danny “zonic” Sørensen got himself a new and powerful weapon to his Falcons arsenal, with the blockbuster signing of Nikola “NiKo” Kovac.

Since joining the team, NiKo has taken on the role of CT-side caller, a responsibility that has earned him huge praise from zonic in a recent interview with BLAST.

High praise from zonic

The five-time Major-winning coach didn’t hold back in his admiration for NiKo’s leadership, calling him the best player he’s ever worked with when it comes to CT-side calling.

– He has matured a lot over the years, but retained his individual level as well. I think that now it’s time for us as a team to keep focusing more on his and setting him up more. Right now, he’s been in charge of our CT side, and in that sense, he’s been the best player I’ve ever worked with for seeing how it is on that side.

However, zonic also believes NiKo needs to shift his focus more toward himself.

– But, he needs to be more selfish and focus more on himself rather than having an overview of the entire team. It’s now my time to try and also activate the other guys, having degster take more peeks with the AWP so that NiKo can focus on himself.

“Fighting for the Major”

When asked about his expectations for 2025, zonic made it clear that Falcons have their sights set on the Major.

– I hope that we are fighting for the Major, and by that I mean playoffs and hopefully deep in the playoffs. That is how we have started out this team, we had two weeks before our first event and we went out on all six maps because the end goal of this season is to be ready for the Major.

Falcons’ next challenge will be their opening-round match against MOUZ at BLAST Open Lisbon 2025, scheduled for tomorrow at 14:30 CET.
