One of the most anticipated clashes on Saturday at the Austin Major was the meeting between HEROIC and FaZe — a matchup fueled by recent pre-game banter between Simon “yxngstxr” Boije and Oleksandr “s1mple” Kostyliev.
But once the server went live, it was all FaZe. The superstar side came out swinging and dismantled HEROIC 13-3 on Ancient.
After the match, HEROIC’s in-game leader Linus “LNZ” Holtäng gave his honest thoughts on the loss.
– FaZe played really well. They owned us, nothing more to say than that. Hands up to them. But it was definitely a fun game, even though we got fucked. It’s great and historic players.
– The match was a bit tough because they had a long bootcamp. And they didn’t play with rain in the last tournament, so it was a bit tough knowing what to expect from them, LNZ told Pley.

HEROIC stepped up
Despite the rocky start, HEROIC bounced back in their next match, taking down BetBoom 13-9 later in the day. That means they are now in the 1-1 bracket.
Both FaZe and HEROIC will return to action this Sunday for the second day of Stage 2. HEROIC are set to face B8, while FaZe will go up against Legacy.
