The Counter-Strike winstreaks you must know about

At BLAST Rivals Copenhagen 2025, Team Vitality extended their match-winning record to 25 best-of-threes/five (BO3/BO5) in a row by defeating Team Falcons in the grand final 3-2, speeding past Team Liquid’s record of 22. During this streak, the international team based in France also achieved the legendary Intel Grand Slam title, taking home an extra $1 million, a title won by only four other teams in history since Astralis won the first in 2018.

The only winstreak that remains above Vitality’s is the one put together by Ninjas in Pyjamas across 2012-2013 at the dawn of CS:GO, when they strung together a staggering 87 maps in a row through the star power of Patrick “f0rest” Lindberg and Christopher “GeT_RiGhT” Alesund, a virtually unapproachable record.

Let’s look deeper into later in CS:GO and now, CS2, and break down its most impressive winstreaks.

Astralis 2018 (12 BO1/BO3/BO5s)

Notable victories: Team Liquid (1 BO5, 2 BO3s), FaZe (2 BO3s), SK Gaming (1 BO3)

Biggest achievement: 1st place at ESL Pro League Season 7 Finals and ECS Season 5 Finals

Streak ended by: Natus Vincere at ESL One Cologne 2018

Where to begin but with the dominant Astralis lineup, the team with the longest dominance over the Counter-Strike scene since NIP. The lineup was formed after Markus “Kjaerbye” Kjaerbye unexpectedly decided to leave the major-winning squad to join rivals North led by Mathias “MSL” Lauridsen in early 2018. Astralis replaced the young superstar with Emil “Magisk” Reif. The team went onto win three more majors across 2018 and 2019, without dropping a single map in the playoffs.

While not having any of the longest streaks, Astralis amassed four different streaks of 9 or more wins throughout their tenure. This particular streak was impressive for how dominantly they won, only dropping a single map through the whole streak. Fittingly, the Danish giant’s streak was only put to rest by the legendary Oleksandr “s1mple” Kostyliev at the peak of his powers at ESL One Cologne 2018.

Astralis 2018-2019 (17 BO1/BO3/BO5s)

Notable victories: Team Liquid (1 BO5, 2 BO3s), FaZe (2 BO3s), SK Gaming (1 BO3)

Biggest achievement: Intel Grand Slam by winning 1st place at ESL Pro League Season 8 Finals

Streak ended by: Team Liquid at iBuyPower Masters 2019

This streak began in the middle of ECS Season 6 which Astralis would win against the Brazilians after losing to them in the group stage.

An important detail is that their streak was ended by the new Team Liquid squad in early 2019 at the iBuyPower Masters event in Los Angeles, an event with technical issues and delays. If we were not to count this loss, their streak would extend to an incredible 31 wins in a row, including a major win in Poland.

Team Liquid 2019 (22 BO3/BO5s)

Notable victories: Astralis (1 BO3), Vitality (1 BO3, 1 BO5), Natus Vincere (2 BO3s), ENCE (1 BO3, 1 BO5)

Biggest achievement: Intel Grand Slam by winning 1st place at ESL One Cologne 2019

Streak ended by: Astralis at Starladder Berlin Major 2019

The plucky upstarts from North America were the first real contender to Astralis’s reign. At the peak of Astralis’s power, they took the throne from them, defeating the Danish superteam at ESL Pro League Season 9 Finals in Montpellier, France. They amassed a win streak of 22 series though a level of firepower rarely seen in CS:GO through the combined efforts of Jonathan “EliGE” Jablonowski and Russel “Twistzz” Van Dulken, the two most decorated North American stars. Their run peaked at ESL One Cologne 2019, when they won the tournament (which included Astralis) without losing a series by defeating ZywOo’s Vitality in the final.

Their lossless run was fittingly ended by the same Astralis team that tortured them in 2018. Liquid had an opportunity to bookend their streak with the major, but fell to the Danish giants in the quarter-finals, setting the rivalry back to its earlier dynamic like in 2018 for the rest of the year.

Natus Vincere 2021 (15 BO1/BO3/BO5s)

Notable victories: G2 (1 BO3, 1 BO5), Vitality (3 BO3s), Heroic (1 BO1, 1 BO3), Gambit (1 BO3)

Biggest achievement: 1st place at PGL Major Stockholm 2021

Streak ended by: Team Liquid at BLAST World Final 2021

The aforementioned s1mple became the star of his own period of dominance with the Ukrainian organization Natus Vincere. Much like Astralis, Natus Vincere showed a staggering level of dominance for over half of 2021 under the tutelage of their coach Andriy “B1ad3” Gorodenskiy. They became the first and only team in CS:GO/CS2 history to win a major without losing a single map through incredible firepower and teamwork rivaling the best Team Liquid and Astralis, respectively.

Their dominance is what forced Team Vitality’s move to pick up Magisk and Peter “dupreeh” Rasmussen from Astralis and G2’s decision to pay $600 thousand to pick up the unproven Ilya “m0NESY” Osipov from Na’Vi Junior.

Much like Astralis’s streak, Na’Vi’s streak was ended by an upset against Team Liquid at the BLAST World Final 2021, a tournament which they won anyway. If we discount this single upset, Na’Vi’s streak would have extended to 20 BO3s/BO5s, surpassing Astralis’s best streaks.

Team Vitality 2025- (28+ BO3/BO5s)

Notable victories: MOUZ (3 BO3s, 2 BO5s), Team Falcons (2 BO5s), Team Spirit (2 BO3s, 1 BO5)

Biggest achievement: Intel Grand Slam by winning 1st place at IEM Melbourne 2025

The longest streak in CS:GO/CS2 history is being recorded as we speak by Team Vitality. Spurred on by the international team’s acquisition of Robin “ropz” Kool, the team has been unbeatable since their victory at IEM Katowice 2025, one of CS’s biggest stages.

Their closest matchups have been against Team Falcons, a recently formed superteam based around the prodigious talents of Nikola “NiKo” Kovac and the aforementioned m0NESY. Along with Spirit and MOUZ, they seem to be Vitality’s biggest challengers at the upcoming BLAST Austin Major.

An incredible aspect of Vitality’s streak is that it does not include any BO1s, unlike Na’Vi and Astralis’s streaks, and is challenging NIP’s record of 26 series if we only count BO3s and BO5s.

Ninjas in Pyjamas (NiP) 2012-2013 (61 BO1/BO3/BO5s)

Notable victories: VeryGames (5 BO3s), ESC Gaming (Polish team with TaZ and NEO) (2 BO1s, 3 BO3s), Virtus.pro (with AdreN and Dosia) (1 BO1, 2 BO3s)

Biggest achievement: Winning 10 tournaments in a row

Streak ended by: Virtus.pro (with AdreN and Dosia) at SLTV StarSeries V Finals

The Swedish powerhouse were the first to create an era of dominance in CS:GO. They were powered by a duo which previously dominated CS 1.6: Christopher ‘GeT_RiGhT’ Alesund as the lurker and Patrik ‘f0rest’ Lindberg as the aggressive rifle player. This duo would go on for over 10 years, taking home many trophies including a Major win at ESL One Cologne and even winning a trophy together in Oakland as late as 2017.

In 2013, their streak was ended by a Virtus.pro with Mihail ‘Dosia’ Stolyarov as the star player, who would go on to win a Major with Gambit in 2017. At this point, NiP had strung together 87 map wins in a row, a number no other CS team has come close to matching since.

Other notable streaks

Luminosity Gaming’s streak started in May and ended the next month of June 2016 with 13 series in a row. This was the team with Gabriel “Fallen” Toledo as the caller and sniper and Marcelo ‘coldzera’ David as the star player. Their streak was ended by G2 Esports at ECS Season 1 Finals with a Richard ‘shox’ Papillon masterclass to close on Overpass.

G2 Esports’s 13 series streak was recorded in late 2022 into early 2023, when NiKo and m0NESY’s combined firepower was too much for the scene to handle. However, their streak was cut short at the BLAST Paris Major, where they didn’t make it past the group stage.

FaZe Clan’s 15 series streak was akin to NIP’s still untouchable streak in that it occurred at the dawn of a new game, this time CS2, though nowhere near as dominantly. The star power of ZywOo and rookie Daniil “donk” Kryshkovets prevented FaZe’s gritty and combative style from dominating the CS scene.
