Astralis has been eliminated from IEM Katowice after a crushing defeat against GamerLegion in Tuesday’s elimination match.
In the blowout loss, Astralis managed to secure just 14 rounds across two maps, struggling to keep up with the young GamerLegion squad.
A candid response from cadiaN
Following the disappointing result, Casper “cadiaN” Møller spoke to James Banks on the broadcast, delivering a blunt assessment of the team’s performance – particularly their defensive play.
During the interview, the Danish captain didn’t mince words about Astralis’ lackluster CT-sides calling it “straight-up awful.”
– GamerLegion is a team that we want and need to better than. Today they were better than us – at least on Mirage. We made too many mistakes on Nuke, cadiaN said.
He continued:
– The CT-sides for us this event has been straight up awful. There’s not much to say when you average 3-4 CT rounds, you can’t expect to make the comeback on T-side every time.
– I think overall there are individual responsibilities of making sure you’re making the right decisions on CT and that you follow the gameplan and you play the spots the way you need to. We are not fulfilling our roles at all. At this event, it was a pretty big problem. We have seen glimpses of it before, but not to this extent. But yeah, that means plenty of things to fix for the future.
– We didn’t play our A-game at all this event. Besides device, the four other of us did not play up to our individual level. And then it’s hard.
Numbers add up
The numbers back up cadiaN’s harsh assessment of Astralis’ CT-side struggles at IEM Katowice. Across their matches, the Danish squad averaged just 3.42 CT rounds per map.
- 2 CT rounds (GamerLegion map 1)

Astralis’ next tournament will be at PGL Cluj-Napoca, starting next week.
