Victor “Staehr” Staehr has begun his second full year as an Astralis player, having joined the Danish juggernaut in June 2023.
In a recent interview with Retake Studio, the 20-year-old rifler reflected on his time with the team, expressing his commitment to Astralis and revealing that his contract could soon be up for review.
– It’s comforting to feel trust from Astralis. I also feel like I’m doing my best to be adaptable. Every time we’ve had roster changes, I’ve done my best to make the new players feel as comfortable as possible—whether that means switching roles myself or staying in my current role, I’ve simply said yes and approached it with a smile,” Staehr explained.
He continued:
– Because I believe that if you want something enough, you can achieve whatever you want in the roles you’re given. So, I’ve tried to be the best teammate I can be. And I think that’s also helping me in this situation. I’ve also been told that Astralis trusts me and wants to keep me.”
– It’s also almost two years since I signed my contract, so hopefully, there’ll be renegotiations soon. But time will tell.
Mixed start to 2025
Earlier this week, Staehr and Astralis kicked off their 2025 season at the BLAST Bounty Season 1 Finals, competing for coveted spots in the $500,000 main event.
The tournament began on a high note for Astralis, as the Danish lineup confidently defeated Wildcard 2-0 in their opening match.
However, when it came time to secure qualification, Astralis faltered under pressure. Facing NAVI in a decisive matchup, the team fell short, losing 0-2 and ultimately missing out on a place at next week’s BLAST Bounty Season 1 Finals.
