PGL reveals how their prize money is distributed

The tournament organizer won’t dictate how organizations allocate their prize earnings, PGL boss states.

PGL CEO Silviu Stroie has shed light on the prize money distribution for their Counter-Strike 2 circuit, where every tournament holds a staggering $1.25 million prize pool.

In a post on X, Stroie explained that the traditional approach to prize pools in Counter-Strike – where funds were split between teams and players under separate categories – never made much sense to him.

Instead, PGL will award the full amount directly to the organizations, allowing them to decide how to allocate the winnings, the CEO explains.

– We do things differently. Instead of splitting funds across different categories, everything goes into a single payment to the organization. Teams will receive the full amount, based solely on performance, within two weeks of the event.

“We will not dictate anything”

This approach eliminates additional structures or requirements, giving teams complete control over their earnings. Furthermore, PGL will not impose conditions that force organizations to participate in multiple events in order to receive rewards.

– PGL is not going to dictate how teams should allocate their earnings. There are no complicated structures, no unnecessary requirements, just a fair system. We do not force organizations to compete in most of our events in order to be rewarded, Stroite wrote.
