paiN took down their fellow countrymen from Sharks in the second elimination match of the day, winning Ancient 22-20 after OT and Nuke 16-4. PKL and company are now in the 1-2 bracket and will have to win two bo3’s to secure a spot in the Legends Stage. Meanwhile, Sharks are the second team to be eliminated from the event with a 0-3 record.
The series between the two Brazilian squads kicked off on Vertigo, where Sharks climbed back from a 10-14 deficit to secure the victory with a 19-16 scoreline in overtime. Sharks’ zevy stepped up huge and dropped 31 frags to help his team win their own map pick.
On Ancient, Sharks reached match point at 15-9, but weren’t able to close out things as paiN fought bravely and went on to complete the comeback in the end with a 22-20 score. paiN’s duo of saffee and biguzera delivered 76 frags combined to push the series to the decider.
After two nail-biting maps, it seemed like the decider of Nuke was going to be very close. But it was all from close, as paiN completely crushed their fellow countrymen with a 16-4 scoreline to keep their hopes alive for a spot in the Legends Stage of the event.
