Last week, Ilya “m0NESY” Osipov left G2 to reunite with his good friend and former teammate, Nikola “NiKo” Kovač, on Falcons.

The timing of the move was notable, coming mid-season and just over a month before the start of the BLAST.tv Austin Major. Even NiKo, a central figure in the Falcons project, didn’t expect the blockbuster signing to happen this early.

Something the Bosnian star revealed in a post-match interview with ESL today, following Falcons’ victory at IEM Melbourne.

– Obviously, I wanted to play with him, and we also tried to get him when I left for Falcons. After that, I had no talks with him about him joining or whatsoever. I was focused on this project we had, and he was focused on G2. So I was also surprised that we could get him this early, especially in the middle of the season. I’m just happy that we’re playing together again.

m0NESY also chimed in, sharing his own perspective on the transfer.

– At the beginning of the year, I was very focused on continuing to play in G2 without NiKo – like I did not know that I was going to join him in Falcons, to be honest. I was just trying to do my best in G2 when we got HeavyGod, but things were not working, so yeah, m0NESY said.

“Life is easier”

Toward the end of the interview, NiKo shared what it means to have m0NESY back on his team, praising his young teammate massively.

– I’m very excited to play with him again. When you play with him, life is just easier. When you play, everything just goes with the flow and this is why he’s one of the best players in the world. As soon as we started practising, we could just feel that: “Now we’re talking.” And now we can talk about lifting trophies. It’s such a crazy upgrade for us, NiKo explained

Falcons will face NAVI in their next matchup at IEM Melbourne tomorrow at 10:45 CET.
