Major-winning org could be on its way back to Counter-Strike

Exciting news!

After years of absence, the iconic North American esports organization Envy may soon return to competitive Counter-Strike.

In a post on X, team owner Mike “hastr0” Rufail revealed that the organization has started evaluating its options with the goal of rejoining the CS scene.

– We have to get Envy back into Counter-Strike. We have begun to explore all opportunities and will jump on the right one when we find it. Dean Duro [co-owner] and I are both excited to support a team, Rufail wrote.

According to Rufail, both he and co-owner Dean Duro are eager to get back into the game, just months after re-acquiring the Envy brand from OpTic Gaming.

Four-year hiatus

Envy has been inactive in Counter-Strike since early 2021, when the team officially disbanded and placed its roster on the transfer list. At the time, the lineup featured the likes of MICHU, Calyx, LEGIJA, Nifty, and Thomas.

While it remains unclear whether Envy aims to build a North American squad or seek international talent, the news has sparked excitement around the potential revival of a banner that once lifted the DreamHack Winter 2014 Major trophy.
