From qualifying to one grand final after another last year, FaZe has struggled massively this season in making deep tournament runs and living up to their usual top level.

It also ended in disappointment at the Austin Major with FaZe falling short in the quarterfinals against The MongolZ.

In a vlog following the Major exit, Finn “karrigan” Andersen reflects on the season, pointing towards the departure of star rifler Robin “ropz” Kool as a key reason for their struggles.

– It’s been really disappointing these six months since the Shanghai Major. Obviously, losing ropz shifted everything in the team. We tried to add EliGE and have done everything to change our style and play a bit differently.

“Big warning sign”

While results have been below expectations, karrigan also raised concerns about the team’s mental state, which has traditionally been one of FaZe’s strongest assets.

karrigan calls it a “big warning sign” in an interview with BLAST last night.

– My biggest disappointment is that mentally, it hasn’t been the FaZe team that bends but never breaks. We’ve been breaking a lot this season, and this is a big warning sign for me, as that was what we claimed on to for the past 2-3 years, the mentality as a team.

When asked about the team’s future, the 34-year-old in-game leader didn’t shy away from acknowledging that changes could be needed.

– For the future a lot of things to think about. The results this year have not been near what FaZe Clan needs… We need to go back to the management, and I need to give my view on different things… We have to go back and review everything. I mean, the whole year has been really bad.
