Thursday evening marked a historic moment in Counter-Strike, as Imperial fe became the first all-female team to compete at a tier-one tournament.
Facing NAVI, the reigning Major champions, Victoria “tory” Kazieva and her squad put up a commendable fight, showcasing their potential against one of the top teams in the world.
In dire need of top-tier practice
After the match, Imperial fe’s veteran rifler Zainab “zAAz” Turkie reflected on their performance during an interview with the desk.
In the conversation, zAAz explained that one of the main challenges holding them back from further progress is their lack of practice against top-tier teams like NAVI.
– I think we proved that we can compete against the tier 1 teams. But the thing is we’re not used practicing these kinds of teams, so it’s very hard for us to know what to expect, how they play and what they do. But I’m sure if we get the opportunity to actually practice against these teams then we will be able to do much more than this, 100%, zAAZ said.
She continued:
– I believe a lot of people did not expect too much from us, and that was the mentality we went into the game with. But we were just having a lot of fun and it was a great experience from us, playing our first match against such a great team.
– As I said, we need to start practicing these kind of teams. So please, give us the chance to do that, zAAz says while looking directly into the camera.
