Unlike many previous Majors, G2 won’t be entering the BLAST.tv Austin Major as one of the title contenders.

With both NiKo and m0NESY gone and the team playing under what many consider a “dead lineup,” expectations have shifted.

Something Nemanja “huNter-” Kovač admits in an interview with Pley.

– It’s a bit different for us compared to the last Majors. Because last time we were favourites to win, but now it’s different because of the changes in the team, huNter- told Pley.  

– We haven’t had good results lately, and we haven’t shown good CS either. But it’s a Major, and anything is possible. I think we’re capable of surprising a lot of teams. I will be happy for playoffs first of all, and then after that we can talk and see what we can do.

“NiKo will bounce back”

One team G2 won’t have to worry about in Texas is Falcons, who were knocked out in Stage 2 after a shocking early exit.

We asked huNter- for his reaction to seeing his cousin and former teammate fall short.

– Everyone expected them to go through to Stage 3, but a Major is something else. Especially the first day playing to best-of-ones. They went 0-2 because they had a bad day individually, and after that, they had so much pressure on their shoulders.

– It’s very tough not to see them here. I spoke a bit with NiKo, and he’s disappointed, but this is how it is. He will bounce back.

– I’m really sorry that they lost, but it’s great that we won’t face them here, because they are a really good team.

G2’s Major run begins Thursday with an opening match against 3DMAX in Stage 3.
