In a post on X, Fnatic co-owner Patrik “cArn” Sättermon has publicly criticized the team’s performance and failed attempt to qualify for the upcoming BLAST.tv Austin Major.
The longtime Fnatic figure called their showing at the European Major qualifier “very, very disappointing,” despite the organization’s acquisitions of two prominent figures in fear and jambo earlier this season.
– Last week’s exit from the CS2 Austin Major cycle was, for lack of a better word, very, very disappointing. We knew it wouldn’t be easy securing one of the six spots for EMEA, but we entered the MRQ with plenty of confidence following the improvements we’ve made to our roster over the past few off-seasons – most recently acquiring Jambo, who is without a doubt a top-class AWPer with a very bright future, cArn wrote.

“Big questions” ahead
Fnatic never came close to securing a spot at the BLAST Major in Austin. At the European Major Regional Qualifier (MRQ), Benjamin “blameF” Bremer and company suffered an early exit, only winning one match during the event.
In his post, cArn not only pointed to the team’s lackluster level on the server, but also signalled that significant discussions are looming regarding the future of the roster and staff.
– The CS we eventually played, when it really mattered, was simply not good enough – in fact, very far from it. We now have to ask ourselves the bigger questions: how do we move forward from here, what does our roster and staff structure look like going into the next Major cycle. All while doing everything we can to fight for important VRS points in the online events we’ve lined up near term.
Fnatic are currently ranked outside the Top 35 on both Valve’s and HLTV’s world rankings. Their MRQ campaign ended with just one win over GamerLegion, as they fell short against BC.Game, BetBoom, and ENCE.
