Mareks “YEKINDAR” Gaļinskis’ loan spell with FURIA came to an end when the Brazilian side got eliminated in the quarterfinals of the BLAST.tv Austin Major.

With the squad, and espcecially the Latvian rifle, delivering an impressive showing in Texas, it sparked speculation about whether he could remain part of the roster permanently.

Update from the captain

In a recent interview with Game Arena, FURIA captain Gabriel “FalleN” Toledo addressed the situation directly. Here the legend made no secret of his opinion when asked about if he hoped YEKINDAR would stay.

– Without a doubt. Ever since YEKINDAR joined, we’ve treated him as if he were a player who would stay for a long time.

He continued by saying he also thinks he will stay:

– If, by chance, it didn’t work out, we would have another problem to solve. There’s no way to do this without believing that it will move forward like this. It’s discouraging to know that someone is only there temporarily. The best way, for us, was to look at it like this. He’s feeling at home, and I think he [YEKINDAR] will stay, but that’s an answer that only the guys at FURIA can give.

“Still a long way to go”

FalleN also took time to reflect on FURIA’s progress in 2025 when speaking with Game Arena.

After a difficult start to the year, the team’s deep run at the Austin Major has helped restore confidence and belief in the project, although admitting there’s a long way to go.

– I hope we can take a few more steps toward success in our effort to climb this competitive ladder. We’ve moved up a few important steps, but there’s still a long way to go.

– We’re not where we want to be, but we’re showing potential and already achieving results that excite not only the team, but also the fans, so I’m really happy… I’m hopeful that we’ll keep doing a good job, trust in what sidde brings to us each day, and have a strong second half of the year, maybe even winning titles and putting Brazil back on top, FalleN said.

YEKINDAR is still under contract with Liquid, as FURIA haven’t issued any official update following the Austin Major.

FURIA’s next event will be FISSURE Playground 1 in two weeks’ time.
