Team Falcons secured the final quarter-final slot at PGL Bucharest 2025 with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over The MongolZ. Led by Abdul “degster” Gasanov, who racked up 50 kills across Dust2 and Ancient, Falcons bounced back from a poor start to keep their playoff hopes alive.
Falcons looked lost on Mirage. Ayush “mzinho” Batbold dominated with 17 frags and 135 ADR in the first half, guiding The MongolZ to an 8-4 T-side lead. Despite taking the pistol round, Falcons failed to convert rounds and lost control as Garidmagnai “bLitz” Byambasuren took over the CT side to close out the map.
The response on Dust2 was immediate. degster posted 15 kills in 12 rounds on the CT side while NiKo exploded on T side with 180 ADR, overwhelming The MongolZ and leveling the series.
Ancient began with fireworks. René “TeSeS” Madsen and degster opened with back-to-back aces. Falcons surged to a 4-0 lead, but The MongolZ answered with a strong mid-half to tie it 6-6. The second half saw The MongolZ reach double digits, but Falcons powered through with six straight rounds to reach match point. Despite a costly blunder in overtime, Falcons stayed composed and closed out the win.
Falcons Set Sights on Revenge Against GamerLegion
NiKo admitted the early defeats to Complexity and GamerLegion shook the team. He credited coach Danny “zonic” Sørensen for keeping morale intact during tough times. “It was embarrassing how we played,” he said. “We never gave up. Danny kept us alive.”
The MongolZ showed promise with raw firepower and strong starts, but failed to maintain control in the later stages. mzinho’s impact on Mirage was standout, though the team’s inexperience in pressure moments was evident.
Falcons now face GamerLegion again in the quarter-finals. Their earlier loss adds fuel to the rematch. With degster in top form and NiKo regaining confidence, Falcons could be poised for a deeper run.
