Ten years after winning the Cluj-Napoca Major, the historic Envy banner looks set for a return to competitive Counter-Strike.
In a newly released video, Envy owner and CEO Mike “hastr0” Rufail revealed that they have already started searching the market for new players in their effort to come back to CS.
And hastr0 makes it clear that the goal is to return to the biggest competition of them all: The Major.
– We’re already scouting to bring back a Counter-Strike team to Envy. We don’t want to just go in with a roster that doesn’t really have a shot. We’re just looking for the right opportunity to get Envy back to Counter-Strike Majors.
Unfinished business
Envy entered Counter-Strike in 2015 with the acquisition of LDLC’s roster starred by Richard “shox” Papillon and Nathan “NBK” Schmitt.
Later that same year, the team lifted the Major trophy at DreamHack Open Cluj-Napoca.
Reflecting on Envy’s run in CS, hastr0 admitted they stepped away from the game too soon, and now want to make things right.
– In a short amount of time, in the CS scene, we managed to create some of the most exciting moments in Counter-Strike history. We want to get back to that and support some of the best players in the world, just like we did with our legendary French roster, hastr0 said.
The team owner continued:
– We just want to make more memories in that game. Our organization feels pretty strongly that we kind of left it too early. It’s time to go back and take care of some unfinished business in Counter-Strike.
