Jonathan “EliGE” Jablonowski made a blockbuster move across the Atlantic this off-season, joining FaZe after a couple of seasons with Complexity. For the superstar rifler, a major factor in his decision was the opportunity to play under Finn “karrigan” Andersen—a player he greatly admires.
In a recent interview with BLAST, EliGE opened up about his choice to join FaZe and karrigan’s pivotal role in the process:
– It was an easy decision to join FaZe, I would say, but I had some other good offers as well. But I felt like going to FaZe and being able to play with karrigan was something that I really wanted, EliGE says.
He went on to share how karrigan also played a key part in the actual transfer.
– Talks began right after the Major was done. Karrigan just sent me a message and asked if I was interested. Then we jumped on a call and talked Counter-Strike for 40 minutes and then it pretty went on from there. I was just super excited right off the bat.
Moving in with the captain
Earlier this month, karrigan revealed that EliGE had moved into his home in Denmark for a couple of weeks. Something EliGE describes as a “mini bootcamp” between him and his new leader.
– It’s pretty cool. Normally I’m used to starting off a new season with a bootcamp. But I’m here alone with karrigan, so it’s like a mini bootcamp between us (laughs). So it’s been really nice and they’ve been really accommodating and generous, I’m really thankful.
– The start with the teams has been going really good. We haven’t been smashing it completely, because I think we still have a lot of work to do, but overall it has been really good, EliGE concludes.
Strong debut
EliGE made his debut yesterday when he and FaZe took down M80 at BLAST Bounty Season 1, where the North American star ended up topping the leaderboards after an outstanding showing.
The North American put up 49 kills and a dominant 1.27 rating.
Despite a tough fight from M80, EliGE and FaZe managed to bring home a 2-1 victory, which means they are still in the hunt for a spot in the main tournament next week.
