The four-time Major winner and CS:GO powerhouse Astralis is done and dusted at the PGL Major in Stockholm. The Danes were eliminated by Team Vitality after three maps of intense Counter-Strike.
Astralis got off to a terrible start on the two first maps. On Nuke the Danes were 1-10 down before they began to string some rounds together. Dangerman for Team Vitality was Mathieu ‘ZywOo’ Herbaut, who was a constant nuisance for Astralis. The French superstar went 29-12 in K-D during the map, that Vitality won by 16-10.
It was 4-0 in favor of Vitality before Astralis began to heat up on Vertigo. The Danes won nine rounds in a row to apply pressure on Vitality, who ran into gla1ve on the A-site and Magisk on the B-site, both delivering impressive CT sides. At 14-6, Astralis just needed the last two rounds to take the fight to Dust2. Vitality mustered the last push that took them all the way to 14-15 before Astralis finally closed off the map after an exciting on-the-edge finish on Vertigo.
Dust2 was the last map in the Major for either Astralis or Team Vitality. The two teams that had dominated the CS:GO scene one year ago now had to fight a desperate battle for survival. Luckily for Team Vitality they still had their world-class AWP’er in Mathieu ‘ZywOo’ Herbaut on the team. ZywOo had an excellent first half going 5-0 in opening kills and 19-6 in K-D, while Lucky, the replacement for dev1ce was getting destroyed. Needless to say, this caused a huge issue for Astralis, who had to work around the dangerous Frenchman. The Danes managed to find five rounds on their T-side, before switching sides.
